Are you a strategic procurement professional with a passion for transportation and logistics? NCC Industry is looking for a Category Manager – Transportation to lead high-impact sourcing in a category that plays a vital role in our daily operations. This is a senior role where you will own and drive long-term category strategies while collaborating cross-functionally across one of the Nordic region’s leading construction and industrial companies.

Purpose of the Role

As Category Manager for Transportation, you will be at the forefront of developing and executing forward-looking procurement strategies that enhance competitiveness, deliver value beyond cost, and promote sustainability across NCC’s operations. You will lead structured supplier partnerships, influence decision-making, and act as a trusted business partner across multiple business units.

Key Responsibilities

  • Category Ownership: Define, implement, and continuously improve category strategies for transportation services in alignment with NCC’s strategic direction.
  • Cross-functional Leadership: Collaborate closely with production, logistics, finance, sustainability, and legal to ensure optimal sourcing solutions across the value chain.
  • Supplier Management: Lead supplier evaluations, negotiations, and the development of strategic supplier partnerships that drive performance, innovation, and risk mitigation.
  • Performance & Risk: Conduct regular risk assessments, monitor supplier performance, and ensure compliance with legal and contractual frameworks.
  • Strategic Enablement: Translate business needs into robust sourcing initiatives, using data and market intelligence to guide strategy and decision-making.
  • Sustainability Focus: Embed sustainability into transport procurement strategies, ensuring alignment with NCC’s environmental and business goals.
  • Internal Engagement: Communicate and align strategies with key internal stakeholders, driving adoption and continuous improvement.

Who We’re Looking For

Background & Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in procurement, category management, or sourcing within the transportation or logistics sector.
  • Proven track record of leading supplier negotiations and managing strategic sourcing initiatives.
  • Experience working in large, matrix-based organizations with multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of transportation procurement, contract law, logistics optimization, and cost management.
  • Category Management experience is highly desirable.

 Education

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Economics, or a related discipline.

  • Strategic mindset with the ability to translate complex needs into actionable procurement plans.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills – able to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Structured and analytical – confident working with data, contracts, and performance metrics.
  • Collaborative leader – experienced in working with cross-functional teams and external partners.
  • Fluent in English and one of the Nordic languages.
