Our collective expertise and diverse backgrounds make a difference.

Job description

Are you a procurement professional ready to lead and develop complex categories and drive real business impact? Do you excel at leading cross-functional collaboration, influencing key stakeholders, and turning strategy into measurable results? If so, this is an opportunity to join NCC and help build a top-class procurement function that ensures NCC wins and delivers profitable, sustainable projects.

As part of NCC Industry, you will contribute to the industrial production of stone materials, asphalt, foundation work, and recycling of construction materials. We combine manufacturing and contracting expertise with a strong focus on sustainability and long-term value creation.

In your role as Category Manager, you will take on a dynamic role that operates at both strategic and tactical levels. You will lead to set and implement a future-oriented strategy in collaboration with other business areas that is fully aligned with business strategy and allowing NCC to be seen as a preferred customer by our suppliers.

This role operates at the intersection of strategy, commercial leadership, and operational impact.

The role and key responsibilities

As Category Manager, you will:

  • Develop and drive category strategies end-to-end, including sourcing decisions and commercial negotiations, in alignment with NCC’s business strategy
  • Lead cross-functional alignment across production, logistics, finance, sustainability, and other key stakeholders to ensure optimal commercial outcomes
  • Translate business needs into robust sourcing and supplier strategies that balance cost, quality, risk, sustainability, and long-term value
  • Develop, manage, and continuously strengthen strategic supplier relationships, positioning NCC as a preferred customer
  • Communicate, anchor, and follow up category strategies internally and externally to ensure commitment and execution
  • Evaluate business value, supplier performance, and risk using data-driven insights and structured analysis
  • Act as a trusted advisor to the business, sharing market insights, best practices, and recommendations that support sound decision-making
  • Proactively identify opportunities for cost efficiency, value creation, and improved ways of working
  • Operate comfortably at both strategic and tactical levels, ensuring that strategy is translated into tangible results

About the department

You will join NCC’s Nordic Purchasing organization and be part of the Category Management team based in Sweden. While the team is located in Sweden, the role has a strong Nordic scope, supporting operational units across the region. Together, we drive strategic initiatives, identify business improvements, and create value in a collaborative and dynamic environment where strong ownership, initiative, and ideas are encouraged.

Your experience and background

We believe you have:

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering, business administration, economics, or a related field
  • At least 5 years of experience from producing companies or related businesses, with a strong focus on category management and supplier management
  • Proven experience managing complex categories in a matrix organization, often involving multiple stakeholders, business units, or geographies
  • A track record of leading cross-functional collaboration through influence rather than formal authority
  • Strong commercial and negotiation skills, combined with analytical strength and a structured way of working
  • Solid experience in contract management and commercial frameworks
  • The ability to work proactively, manage change, and make sound decisions in complex and evolving environments

You are a business-oriented Category Manager who sees the bigger picture, understands how procurement drives profitability and risk, and leads categories from strategy through execution. This position requires fluency in English and in one of the Nordic languages.

To be successful in this role, you have a positive mindset and identify with NCC’s values of honesty, trust, and respect.
